Jerry Foote
The Nevada County Concert Band (NCCB) announced the establishment of the Jerry Foote Scholarship Fund in 2013. An oboe and English horn player, Jerry was an active member of the Nevada County Concert Band. Jerry split his time between band and orchestra music, trains (especially donating time at the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum), and the outdoors (including kayaking). Jerry passed away in January 2013.
Donations from the public are used to maintain the fund. Donations identified for the Foote Scholarship can be made at the address below.

Application Process
This scholarship was established to honor Jerry’s memory, to promote the development of young musicians in our community, to benefit local music education programs, and to support local private music teachers.
This scholarship awards up to $1,000 to a talented high school student and/or college student. The scholarships are offered annually, and are available to fund private music lessons and educational opportunities and/or for college tuition to further the study of music.
Review the introductory Letter to Applicants and complete the Application Form, then submit your complete package by mail.

Audition will take place at (or nearby to) Nevada Union High School, with date, times, and location to be assigned by email.
The scholarship winner(s) will be notified by email or phone approximately two or three weeks after audition, and may be publicly announced at one or more of Nevada County Concert Band’s concerts. In addition to a financial reward, each is required to perform (on the instrument auditioned and/or applied for) with the Nevada County Concert Band sometime within a year.
The scholarship must be used to fund private music lessons and educational opportunities and/or for college tuition to further the study of music. The Jerry Foote Scholarship Committee may contact the recipient’s private instructor, college, or request additional documentation if there are questions. Approval of the disbursement is solely at the discretion of the Committee.
Recipients will perform with the Nevada County Concert Band at a concert within one year of receipt of the award. Details and dates of the performance will be announced once scheduled with the recipient.
